How To Coach Yourself Through A Crummy Day
I sure know what it's like to have bad days as a Mom... not only am I a mom of 3 teens myself, but I also spend a big part of each week working with overwhelmed, stressed mamas in midlife to help them find real balance and healthier relationships.
However, it's not always possible to talk things through with a life coach when YOUR real life is getting crazy - which, more often than not, tends to happen somewhere between Friday at 5pm and Monday morning... while everything is closed for the weekend! (If you even HAVE a life coach to start with!!! Which everyone should!)
That's why this week in the podcast, I will walk listeners through a self-coaching process; explaining through a very personal example how you can begin coaching yourself through a crummy day or in a tough situation by:
- exploring how to isolate the thoughts that are really bugging you or bumming you out
- figuring out what meaning you are making from the way you are thinking
- helping you to see how to lighten your own load, so that you are no longer reacting from a place of pain
- learning how to process your hardest feelings
When stress gets heavy, it's natural to yearn for easy comfort or a dopamine surge. That's why eating ice cream and shopping are so popular with overwhelmed moms!! Those activities don't create lasting feelings of goodness, however. At best, they are a temporary fix.
The ideas shared in this episode can help you permanently stop buffering and avoiding... take back the reins during your own crazy days, and start coaching yourself toward balance and emotional health!
